Fen in SWD2 and Fen in SWH
He is Fen, familiar Vectron sprite in SWD2.
And there is Fen as a DLC character in SWH.
(I saw some SWD2 player who don't know this Fen.)
The two Fen are similar.
SWD2's Fen installed to Vectron's portal looks more.
In the SteamWorld timeline, SWH is after SWD2. SWD2 players, who bided farewell to Fen, may meet him again in SWH.
However, SWH's Fen has slightly different memory from SWD2's event. Aren't they the same person?
Then I'll pick up some screenshots of Fen's memory. Because it was from the beginning of Vectron that I started DLC, I might miss other important dialogs. Please let me know in comment.
(Update May 19, 2018)
Steam community let me find the reference below:
"I'm sure there's at least one game in between Dig 2 and Heist, and there should be more to come after Heist as well," by Sigurgeirsson in this interview.
What Fen said is likely to mention the "game in between Dig 2 and Heist."
(The contents below was written before this notice, might be strange.)
Fen's Scarf
The SS above is about Fen's scarf. SWH's Fen wears red scarf and he says "it reminds me someone." But "red scarf" is Rusty's signature, not Dorothy's. Whom SWH's Fen remembers?
Before the Sleep
As one of Fen's memory, the story below is revealed.
"I see myself at the center of the world while it breaks and falls apart around me." matches the last of SWD2's Fen. However, who is "madbot"? At the last of SWD2, it was Shiner named Rosie who confronted Dorothy and Fen.
There's some contradiction or mystery. From real point of view, SWH (and Fen's DLC) was released before SWD2, so perhaps the story between SWD and SWH was different at that time. In the story, Fen would supposed to do with Rusty? Its main enemy wouldn't be Shiner but Vectron? Imagination spreads.
Someone said it's like zelda timeline. It's also nice explanation.
Despite some ambiguity, I can't help dreaming SWH's Fen, who have grown up (?), meets again Dorothy. I wonder something such as they would cry with happiness, or also Rusty would meet Fen again and talk something. They might look like a family. How precious time?
BTW, SWH's Fen, you looks good boy than before.
Right?
Oh Fen. You are Fen.
The game never actually says those two events Fen remembers are connected! Seems likely that the 'laughing madbot' event was just before/leading into the junkyard (and why Fen was in the pile of scrap with no power core) and the world breaking up was Dig 2's ending.
ReplyDeleteThat's it! It's very convincing!
DeleteI'm looking forward to reveal rest of the secrets in future game 😆
Finally got around to the Jester mission. Laughing Madbot is indeed completely unrelated to the world breaking up.
DeleteI was reading through your Twitter and realized something: Fen in Dig 2 seems to be terrified that if they got too close to Vectron they'd lose their will again. Fen in Heist can go right into Vectron's inner chamber and hit it with a rocket launcher with no apparent difficulty. Like, how?? Does having a body help protect them? Sheer achievements in ignorance? Relying on following Piper's lead to protect against Vectron??
DeleteOh Jester mission helps a lot about interpretation of Fen's dialog?
DeleteI should check it!
Thanks for comming to my Twitter!
Ya, Fen in SWH has their own physical body and it might affect his tolerance to losing will.
At least, Fen is encouraged by crews including Piper. And it may keep their will.
And more, cuz the Earth's Vectron (area) is the prime citadel of Vectron (species), this environment might affect.
Actually, Vectron in SWD2 is horrible and spiritual place.
It is filled by wreck of voltbots and wires.
Even before defeat of Voltbot (SWD), there might have been full of voltbots and they must have constructed thick connection of will.
At least Fen knows that just wreck are left in Vectron.
Going back to ruins of past citadel, which was hideous even when it worked, is generally undesirabl thing.
Vectron in SWH rely on the control tower to connect their will
They lost their citadel completely... and behave as eliminaters which are entrusted with a mission to cleans
Thay aren't interested in assimilation or alteration any more.
(Thinking about real things, SWH takes different style and reason from SWD/SWD2, but it's rubbish thought lol)
